There’s one thing to do in Colorado in the fall. That is: go for a drive to see the colors. When I was a boy, my family drove along Highway 12: “The Scenic Highway of Legends”. Colorado’s called “Colorful Colorado” and that’s more true in the fall than any other time.

I think we were a little early to see the colors. In the fall, the trees become red, yellow and gold. It’s beautiful, breath taking. I took these photos along Highway 24, west of Lake George in the Pike National Forest.

We took our drive up Highway 12 a week or so ago. Like you we felt it turned out to be a bit early. But it was still beautiful. I had special memories of making that drive with you when your camera was new. No matter how many times we drive it, I am still in awe of the beauty. And now we have added a stop at the Shopping Bag to eat or get coffee as part of our tradition.
