While walking along Monument Creek, Wendi and I heard the sound of a train horn on the Air Force Academy. Of course, I was stoked when Union Pacific’s GE AC45CCTE appeared coming around the bend. And awesome wife waited for me, indulging my fascination with these amazing machines.
This time of day, I’m really on the wrong side of the trains. The sun’s on the other side, and this trail frequently dips below the tracks (which makes me think there are some great opportunities for up-angle shots at trains). In the afternoons, getting the light right is difficult.
It was a short train, and it looked like this one was pulling the cars they transport rail segments on. But I wasn’t 100% sure since they were all empty.
