Thunderbirds – Graduation Flyover (I)

This week, I’ll be posting the photos of the Air Force’s Thunderbirds I took during their Graduation Flyover.

Pikes Peak makes an awesome backdrop for the Thunderbirds.

I don’t think many people realize the danger those pilots put themselves into flying in formation like that, though it becomes apparent when we hear of one of these pilots going down. The Blue Angels just lost one of their pilots earlier this week, very sad, but its an incredible show of precision, power and stamina to see them flitting around like that, defying gravity with seemingly no effort.

Yes indeed. After this show, one of the Thunderbirds crashed, too (as you, no doubt heard), though the AF pilot ejected to safety. It’s been a long time since there was a fatality in either program.

Regardless, it’s impressive to watch these guys. It’ll be Thunderbirds for the rest of the week…
