Coal Train – BNSF 8411

IMG_8291

Checking out a new position from which to take train photos with my daughter, we stood among the cactus and the mud. I looked through my camera toward the signal and saw a green light. The rails squeal with a high pitch as trains approach and after they pass. I waited a few minutes and was getting ready to recheck the signal, when the kiddo says “Yep, there are the rails”. Sure enough, the lead engines came around the bend, BNSF 8411 (EMD SD70ACe) and BNSF 5828 (GE ES44AC) followed by a load of coal.

These still aren’t the shots I was going for a while ago, but these are closer to what I had in mind.

Bringing up the rear is BNSF 8456 (EMD SD70ACe) and BNSF 5978 (GE ES44AC).
