Continuing with the photos of Rampart Range Road I started last week: If you’ll recall, we drove up to Woodland Park and picked up the road there outside of Rampart Reservoir and headed back toward Colorado Springs.
You can see part of the southwest section of Colorado Springs, and how the city sits right on the line between the mountains and the Great Plains. In the lower right corner of this shot, you can see Manitou Springs.
And later on, even more of the city is visible. In the foreground, though, is more evidence from the Waldo Canyon Fire in 2012. It’s weird. That was four years ago, but it’s still pretty fresh in my head and doesn’t really seem like that long ago to me.
As we got closer to town, I had to stop to get this picture of Pulpit Rock. It’s the white rock face in the upper left third of the photo. This hill in the foreground is a really unique landmark in the Springs, and I’ll have to try to get a photo of the front of it sometime.
