Boundary Dispute — Mexican Grey Wolves

I almost never see any Mexican grey wolves at the zoo. Wolves are nocturnal for one, and their habitat has more than adequate cover. But as I was getting ready to give up for the day, I saw this guy slinking up behind a tree. The wolf enclosure is next to the mountain lion enclosure; and when we were there, there seemed to be some sort of boundary dispute going on between the wolves and the mountain lions.

In a first, I actually managed to get photos of a wolf outside the viewing area. I was swinging my camera back and forth between the mountain lions and the wolves.

Tomorrow: we’ll hear from the other side of the dispute.
