Don’t it always seem to go
That you don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone
Paved paradise, put up a parking lot

You know, I understand what your getting at, but I have noticed when I travel to some of the job sites we frequent, and when I drive back East, the vast amount of empty space still in our country. Even here in CA there are massive areas of mountains and hills that have little to nothing on them. You can expect stuff like this in the cities, though.

Of course there’s lots of empty space still around; which is part of the reason no one really thinks it’s that big a deal to pave over it… but once it’s gone, it’s gone.

One reason we like living in Colorado Springs is all the open space…

How much longer will it be before I’m saying, “we liked living in Colorado Springs when there was still a lot of open space.” ?

That’s how things are here in Bako. I have been here since I was 10 years old and watched the city expand. Still, there’s a lot of space between us and the next town. Maybe with all of the ‘undocumented’ people self deporting the growth of the cities will slow down some. I don’t mind growth, but I do notice a lot of the same stuff going up, just in different places. A city only needs so many Taco Bells and Starbucks!

True enough… I think we’d all be better off with fewer of those, to be sure.

I’m not opposed to growth either; I recognize it’s necessary — places that don’t grow (or shrink) risk stagnation.
