Dependable Engines

I was waiting for my daughter’s volleyball game to start last week when I saw the unmistakable front profile of a Boeing 747. I got my camera out and started taking pictures; and as it got closer, I realized it was the short 747SP, one of the coolest 747s ever.

Also, as it flew overhead, I saw the logo of Pratt and Whitney on the tail. My guess is this is (one of) PW’s flying test beds — indeed, the number 2 engine (inboard one on the left wing) appears to be different than the others. I could be wrong, of course; but based on the nacelle, I’d guess the engine being tested is for the Boeing 737, possibly PW’s offering for the 737NG.

This was a pretty unique catch.
