Der Amurtiger

Aus diesem Tag war der Amurtiger sehr aktiv; er ist durch seines Gehege geschritten. Er hat gegen dem Zaun gerieben. Wendi und ich haben ihm geredet, und er hat angehalten und uns geschaut. Er hat uns als eine größer Katze als Rose natürlich gescheinen, doch eine Katze ebenso.

On this day the Amur Tiger was very active; he paced through his enclosure. He rubbed against the fence. Wendi and I talked to him, and he stopped and looked at us. He seems to us like a bigger cat than Rose of course, but a cat all the same.

    He is devastatingly beautiful. I love the shadows and light in these photos as well.

      He is that. As I watched him pace around that day, I couldn’t help but think of Sooyong Park’s book. Male Siberian tigers in the wild have a large area they patrol over the course of months, and it seemed he was patrolling his area, though it was in minutes not seconds.

      The expression on his face in the last photo: Rose makes that face a lot.
